Mark and Pam, welcome to the Forum…  about to have more time, that’s always a good thing!   We have a seasonal campsite at Raccoon Holler near Jefferson NC where we spend much of the summer… not too far from you.   We also recently camped at Riverwalk, near Elkin… love the area!  Have fun! 

@tomg Hey Thanks! Elkin is just right up the road from us here in Yadkinville! We have been hiking along the Jonesville Greenway which runs right beside the Yadkin River next to the campground there! Blessings!

@mwfulwider I believe friends worked at a winery in Yadkinville, Steve and Joyce Rigby.  Now they are at Boxwood Estates in Middleburg, VA.  I often travel out of Richmond, VA (son’s place) from Jan — May.  My two favorite camping areas(only been to a few) so far in NC are Carolina Beach.  There is a great COE campground just a short drive from Fort Fisher which is seemingly less crowded beach area and one does not have to pay to park.  And the John H Kerr reservoir with a handful campgrounds of nice camping, fishing, WMA area for hiking.  I’ll be in at the Shakori Hills grassRoots festival in Pittsboro, NC on the first weekend in May.  Would love to hear of some NC places you like.

@megonaquest We love Stone Mountain State Park! Beautiful there and a nice campground and some beautiful backpacking sites as well! Basin Cove area is also lovely! Only backpacking sites there, but it is truly beautiful! Here is a link to a video we did of the area!

Ya know, I think I actually met Steve when I was working for a time at Laurel Gray Vineyards! He came in to help out with some issues they were having for a day! Real nice guy! Small world huh?!
