Waco Surf is a place I stayed while traveling through Texas.
It’s a wakeboard cable and surf park that has RV pads and hookups, as well as cabins and treehouses, etc. There’s also a waterpark area with slides and a lazy river, but unfortunately, none of these parts were open or working in April.
I’ll be honest, the RV area is not the best. It’s basically behind the cabins and there are no bathhouses or showers in the area. That said, they do have electrical and water hookups.
It’s also not the best place to bring a dog. This is the kind of place that expects you to leave your dog inside your RV at all times or walk them around the cable park area on a leash. That’s it, no other options for dogs. They have a decent Taco Stand on site that is open until 8 pm. It has great cell phone coverage, and some decent wifi. When I used wifi there was not a lot of people there, so that was likely a big plus.
Other than that, it’s pretty cool if you are into watersports. If you’re going to go surfing, you need to know how to surf already. This is not a place that will teach you how to pop up or catch a wave, they expect you to know this already. I’d also recommend bringing your own gear as opposed to rentals.
I’d recommend it if you’re passing through and want a fun spot, but this isn’t really a place for kids who are not already doing these sports. Maybe if the slides and lazy river were working, as I suspect that is the activities for those who not really into these sports.
